The Material That Shaped Our Studio
Every studio has a material that quietly becomes part of its language.
For Fibala Living, that material is washable paper.
Long before it appeared in our collections, we were drawn to its unusual character. At first touch it feels unexpected — soft like worn leather, yet light and flexible. It folds like paper, but behaves more like textile. Structured, yet forgiving.
This balance between strength and softness immediately resonated with the way we approach design.
We began experimenting with it in the studio: folding, stitching, washing, shaping. Over time, the material revealed its quiet versatility. It could hold structure while remaining light. It could soften with use without losing its form. It developed subtle creases and tonal variation that gave every piece its own individual character.
What began as curiosity gradually became part of our design vocabulary.

A Material That Evolves
Washable paper is made from cellulose fibers derived from responsibly sourced wood pulp. Unlike conventional paper, the fibers are bonded in a way that allows the material to be washed, sewn, folded, and shaped repeatedly.
With use, its surface evolves.
The material softens slightly, developing gentle creases and a natural patina. Much like leather or linen, it becomes more expressive over time — never losing its structure, but gaining character through handling and wear.
This quiet transformation is something we value deeply in design.
Objects should not remain static. They should live with us.

Designing With Washable Paper
In our studio, washable paper is used to create storage bags, organizers, and objects that balance practicality with sculptural simplicity.
We are drawn to its ability to hold form while remaining tactile and approachable. Its matte surface absorbs light softly, bringing warmth and depth to minimalist interiors.
The material allows us to work with clean geometry while keeping a sense of softness and movement.
No two pieces behave exactly the same. Slight variations in surface, subtle tonal shifts, and the way the material folds ensure that each object carries its own quiet individuality.

Sharing the Material
After years of working with washable paper within our own collections, we began receiving questions from makers, designers, and studios curious about the material behind our pieces.
Rather than keeping it solely within our own production, we decided to make the material available through our studio.
Today we offer Fibala Studio Washable Paper — carefully selected, cut in our studio, and presented in a palette of colors chosen to work harmoniously with modern design.
It is the same material trusted in our own products.
For some, it becomes a foundation for creative projects.
For others, it is simply a material worth exploring.

A Studio Perspective
Offering washable paper through Fibala Living is not about becoming a supply store.
It is about sharing a material that has shaped the way we design.
Our approach remains the same: thoughtful materials, considered form, and quiet functionality. Whether it appears as a finished object in our collection or as a sheet waiting to be transformed by someone else, the material carries the same philosophy.
Design begins with what we choose to work with.
And sometimes, a single material can quietly redefine an entire studio.
